Clinical pharmacology studies


Capnographic monitoring allows duration of action of a bronchodilatating drug to be assessed.

Example : Measurement of effect duration of a bronchodilatating association (pirbuterol - ipratropium bromide) (AP) using nocturnal asthma monitoring (4 puffs preventive dose at bedtime).
The study was performed in 10 patients experiencing brittle asthma.

Trends of S3 during the comparative nights (10 patients)
Capnographic monitoring during two double-blind consecutive nights after AP or Placebo (PCB).
Continuous assessment of S3 indice (alveolar plateau slope, n<0.5%/sec).
Difference is significant up to 6th hour.
